2008 School to Career Transition Workshop
OPELIKA, AL – (October 20, 2007) – Today’s students are tomorrow’s employees. It sounds simple enough, but making the right choices now can make all the difference later. To help students bridge the gap between school and career, the Opelika Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee will host the 2008 School-to-Career Transition Workshop on October 27 and 28. The two-day program is designed to provide practical information to high school seniors about what to expect in a business climate and how to achieve the career goals they will set for themselves. Opelika, AL (September 5, 2008) – The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will host United States Senator Jeff Sessions (R) at Business Over Breakfast on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Auburn Marriott Opelika at Grand National. About to complete his second six-year term of service, Sessions is running for re-election as the junior Senator from Alabama. He will be opposed on November 4th by state Senator Vivian Davis Figures (D) of Mobile.
Opelika Chamber to Co-host Mayoral Candidate’s Forum
OPELIKA, AL -- (July 31, 2008) -- The Opelika Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee in cooperation with the League of Women Voters of East Alabama will sponsor a Mayoral Candidate’s Forum for the City of Opelika municipal election on Monday, August 11 at 7 p.m. at Opelika Middle School. Although the forum will focus only on the mayoral race, candidates for Opelika City Council will be introduced at the forum.

OPELIKA, AL -- (August 4, 2008) -- The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Marketing and Feasibility Study Seminar on Monday, August 11, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The sessions are identical in format and material. The seminar, presented by Dr. Danny Butler, Thomas Walter Professor of Technology Management at Auburn University, will be held at the Opelika-Auburn News, 2901 Society Hill Road in Opelika.
9th Annual Opelika Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
OPELIKA, AL -- (January 31, 2008) -- The Opelika Chamber of Commerce will host its 9th Annual Member Golf Tournament at Saugahatchee Country Club sponsored by Wal-Mart Distribution Center on May 6. More than 30 teams are expected to compete in the noon shotgun event.
